Friday, I bought myself a RCA Lyra RD1028, the first mp3 player I've owned. Friday night I figured out how it worked and downloaded a few songs before walmart's website stopped working for the night.

Saturday, I brought my new toy to work with me. I played music on it off and on through the day, and it worked fine.

Saturday night, I came home and downloaded some more music. When I had a few songs downloaded, I transferred them to the mp3 player to listen to them. When I went to start the player after the transfer, its screen said 'RCA' and it would not otherwise respond. Removing the battery turns it off, but turning it back on gets the same response. If I turn it off, then turn it on by plugging it into the USB, it says 'USB CONNECTED', but any attempt to access it via the computer generates an error.

I've sent a message to RCA, but they seem to be having their own problems (their main website won't load, at least for me!), so I doubt I'll get a quick response.

Any ideas on what I could try to do to fix the problem?

Most RCA Players have a very small hole in them. This hole is used to reset the player while it is frozen. (You're never supposed to take the battery out btw)

Use your manual, or you common sense to find the small hole, and use something like a Needle, to press the button inside, and poof, your problem is solved.

Well, the manual doesn't say anything about a reset button, and I can't find one.

Any other ideas?

This may be a little too simplistic an answer but have you recharged the battery? It may say it's supposed to give you a certain amount of continuous hours of play but a new battery may need to be broken-in by draining/recharging it a few times before it starts to run at full capacity.

That's not it for sure. It runs on AAAs, and the one that it came with, which is not a rechargable, has its own meter on the side, which says it's nearly full.
