I downloaded DVD Shrink to make copies of Season 2 of The OC. I'm doing it on a laptop with one disk drive (DVD+-RW). My question is, do I make an ISO image file or a Video_TS file if I want to put the files on my HDD then burn them later?
Also, what program should I use to burn the files to the DVD+R? I have dial-up and Nero was going to take like 24 hours to download. I have Pinnacle InstantWrite, but can't I just tell Windows to burn the files to the disk?
And then rip to the harddrive using the guide in my signature block for DVDdecrypter and DVDShrink. You can burn them later. I would rip in Mode File F.
You can't use Windows because then you would be making a data DVD, which your player could not play.
You would process the movie with Shrink, creating the iso. Once that was done...
Open DVD Decrypter.
Select Mode > ISO > Write >
Select your iso, the one that Shrink made.
Set your burner as the target.
Click the start arrow and Decrypter will burn the DVD.
Use good media (Not Memorex) and a 4X burn speed and you shouldn't have any problems.
Edit:
You can see that I provided one method and 9mmruger1 provided another.
Here is the difference:
His method uses Decrypter to perform the initial rip of the DVD. Once that has been completed, it still needs to be Shrunk using Shrink. So you would use Shrink to make the ISO at this point and then burn that iso with Decrypter. This method uses Decrypter for the rip which is a more potent ripper than Shrink is.
The method I describe uses Shrink for the initial rip and compressing, then uses DVD Decrypter's burn engine to burn the results.
Both methods work. The first method by 9mm has one more step but can work on some difficult DVDs.
There are some DVDs coming out now that have structure protection. For those you will need a more up to date program in place. Neither Shrink or Decrypter can handle these DVDs. These two programs are no longer supported or updated.
DVDFab Decrypter is up to date and free as well if you need it, get it here:
http://www.dvdidle.com/free.htm It will take the place of Decrypter for ripping. It cannot burn.
AnyDVD is a driver that makes any DVD or CD on your PC appear unencrypted. It runs in the background, allowing programs like DVD Shrink And DVD Decrypter to process movies that would otherwise cause errors.
There is a 21 day free trial and possibly a discount for AD members.
http://www.slysoft.com/ This is a great program if you are going to be burning a lot of movies.
