It's probably a divx/xvid movie, download DivX codec from www.DivX.com

I just went through all the steps before preparing to backup on shrink. I hit the backup and got this message "DVD shrink encountered an error and cannot continue. Invalid data in file C:\documentsandsettings\owner\mydocuments\DVD\video_TS\vts_07_1.VOB." Overlapped I/O operation is in progress. What does this mean and how do I fx it?

It would probably be best to start a new thread -since it sounds like your having a different problem.
What movie are you having problems with? Did you try any other progs?
Are we talking backing up and original or download?

Another question from a newbie

The movie is The Perfect Man. I tried AnyDVD and it said it had some kind of navigation issue and had to shut down. I then opened DVDfab decrypter which ripped it, I then opened the files on the DVD Shrink 3.2, it did its short anaylsis, and when I went to backup what I had ripped that overlap error popped up. I searched the messages board but couldn't figure out where to stick my question, I came across the beginners list and put it in there. I am sorry for not starting a new thread. I have absolutely no clue how to run any other porgram. Any thoughts or redirects would be appreciated.

Nothing to be sorry for. This post is best is the shrink section - that way you'll get answers faster - no biggie about not starting an new thread - just want to make sure you get your issue resolved.
I'm very suprised AnyDVD didn't work - are you using the last version -5.7.3.1? How about dvdfab decrypter using the latest version? If not update those first then if you still receive that error do this:
Run it thru vobblanker - very simple program to use - then process thru shrink. Here's a link for it:
http://jsoto.posunplugged.com/vobblanker.htm
Check out arniebears pic in this thread on how to use:
http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/281230
We always here to help so if still having problems post back - you can also post back if you got it to work also!

@binkie7

I had AnyDVD 5.7.2.1 but I just updated to the newest version. I can't find an update for my dvdfab express decrypter (2.9.6.2). I have VOB blanker 2010, everytime I run it, it aborts itself before it gets to the end, plus I have absolutely no idea what this program does or how it works. I have Nero 6.3 do I need to do an update on this as well. A friend was telling me about a DVD Shrink program 3.0 b 3 and how he uses it to burn newer dvd's with. Do you know where I might find this or get a copy or if it is any good? I really appreciate your information.

I tried the link for the new Nero it wouldn't download from the first site nor the backup site. Do you have a different link to the update. Thanks

The link 9mmrugger1 gave was for dvd fabdecrypter. You can also try this site to dl the latest version:
http://www.softpedia.com/get/CD-DVD-Tools/CD-DVD-Rip-Other-Tools/...
Here's a link to update Nero to the last version;
http://www.majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=633
Updating Nero can help the burning process but not the ripping process.
I never heard of 'dvd shrink program 3.0 b 3' - With the last AnyDVD update you should be able to rip and burn this movie with the shrink that you have & AnyDVD running in the background. The last update of AnyDVD should have taken care of the errors you received with Shrink on the newer copy protections. The last update of Fab Decrypter also took care of this problem.
Processing the files thru VOB blanker basically just removes the junk/bad sectors the some of the newer movies have on them. It can also be used to blank out warning, previews etc.
Have you tried doing the movie with the latest AnyDVD?

I did the update on dvdfab, it came up as DVDIdle (it doesn't do any ripping, does it)? The reason I ask is because I tried it with another movie (2 Fast 2 Furious) and I had to run dvdfab to rip it, then I opened the files with shrink and it's going through the encoding process now. I will know in a couple hours if it worked. If so then I can do the one movie I was getting the same error message with. I can't get any links to update Nero. They say they don't exist or the page is available. I will keep trying on that one. The other shrink program supposedly doesn't recognize the new protectors and rips new movies and let you burn them. I googled it and couldn't find it. I was just curious about it. Thanks again for all your help....

DVDIdle is like the home page listing fengtao software. It also one of the progs they offer. DVDFab decrypter is one of thre 2 free progs they offer. You should be good copying wise with the progs you currently have.
Let us know how it turns out.

You're having issues with The Perfect Man? Cause I have been able to rip 99% of the movies I've "backed up" using only the latest versions of shrink and DVD Decrypter. 2-3 times I've had to use AnyDVD and/or dvdfab.

I know that for me, I havn't even tryed to burn the dvd yet, but using a program (prob either dvd fab, or decrypter) was able to rip onto my HD (which is where I watched it).

The DVDIdle seemed to take care of the overlap I was receiving after I had ripped both 2 Fast 2 Furious and The perfect Man. I burned the first and I am currently in the deep analysis of the other movie. Will let you know how it does with the latter.

@prfect

I ripped it with dvdfab decrypter (with the new update running in the background-dvd idle). As I told binkie I am in the deep analysis mode and will let ya'll know as soon as I finish burning it.

Thanks for everything guys you truly are awesome.....

Not a prob! I'm glad to hear you got it working! Did you mean you have AnyDVD running in the background?

I think I have both AnyDVD and DVDIdle running in the background. Is that possible? And whats the newest version of Nero?

I would use care as I have read that DVD43 and AnyDVD conflict with each other.

I guess it possible to run both - they both run in the background. DVDIdle looks like it more for watching movies on your pc - it caches the files so there's less wear on your drive according to the website. It also doesn't appear to be free. If AnyDVD is running you'll see a red fox in the bottom right hand corner.
The latest version of Nero is 7 - which you would have pay to upgrade to. I'm still sticking w/ 6 for now. The latest version and last is 6.6.0.18. Were you ever able to access with the link above?
