Hi guys!
Well i'm new to the DVD shrink thing and have a possibly dumb question to ask. I figured out how to use DVD shrink and nero well, at least enough to burn a copy. I copied starwars episode 6. Everything seemed OK. I tryed to watch the movie and it plays well for about an hour of the movie then it starts to kinda lock up/choppy. Am I doing something wrong? I looked at the disc itself and it looked a little scratched. I tried polishing it with car wax (it works on music CDs) but no change. I have read a few other threads and it seems that the media type/brand could be a culprit. The discs i've been using are some sort of "no-name" DVD-Rs.Also if it helps, I never changed any settings on DVD shrink at all. Could that be the problem. Please help.
Thank you in advance!!

dvd media is one of the most important aspects of burning movies so yes, crappy discs may well be your problem.
let's have LAST section of your Nero log which lives in c:\program files\ahead\nero\nerohistory.log but DO NOT post your serial number which usually begins with '1A21' or similar.
You can differentiate sections via this section divider "====== *** Nero-Burning Rom, History File *** ======"
Main PC ~ Intel C2Q Q6600 (G0 Stepping)/Gigabyte GA-EP45-DS3/2GB Crucial Ballistix PC2-8500/Zalman CNPS9700/Antec 900/Corsair HX 620W

hi and welcome to AD~ :)
Quote: The discs i've been using are some sort of "no-name" DVD-Rs
that is probably your MOST LIKELY culprit compounded on the fact that you are probably burning all the way to the edge of said media~ :) pull the burn limit/size back to maybe 4300 or thereabouts as based on what you have stated. Quote: plays well for about an hour of the movie then it starts to kinda lock up/choppy
is often times the issue when burned all the way to the edge of the disc...
as creaky stated w/ the Nero log...we'll find out just exactly WHAT kinda of "no-name" media you are using...hehehe...i'm looking forward to this one...lol...

OK. Here is my latest dvd burn and it still gets choppy towards the end of the movie. Hopefully this is the log you are talking about. As for the serial number I wasn't sure what that was so I deleted the 4 letter/digit that was just under *Windows XP 5.1*. Thank you in advance for analyzing this log for me. Total greek when I looked at it HEH.

Somebody please decipher my Nero log. I tried using DVD Shrink and saved to my hard drive then burning it through Nero. It worked great! I changed the 4.7gb to 4.3gb and also I found that using DVD Shrink and then burning straight to the disc it was burning at 16x. So that's why I had to save it to the HDD then use Nero and change the burn speed to 4x. Works good now (well...so far :) ) I'm still curious on what brand of DVD-Rs i'm using. Thanks for all your help fellahs!!

That is good media if they are genuine TY's. Might be fakes.

Burning too fast. Slow the burn speed down to 4x and give that a try. If those are genuine TY's they will probably burn at 8x ok.

You should free up some resourses if possible. I would recommend a memory upgrade to at least 512mb but preferably a gig. This will help your system tremendously.

Wow! Thanks for the help guys! So you're saying the "TYG02" media is good? That's a relief. LOL. Also thank you for the firmware upgrade. I guess my next 2 upgrades are going to be the newest Nero and more memory (1gig-age!) hahaha. Thanks again! Have a great weekend.
