I just installed a Qoob Pro on my GC (DOL-001B USA)
Problem is when I turn it on it only boots to the qoob menu once in every 8 times (about) otherwise its just black. I haven't tried in backups yet, as normal games won't even play...they'll try to load but nothing happens...if I open the top the disc stops spinning and a message pops up telling me "The disc cover is open. If you want to continue the game, please close the disc cover." Once I close the disc cover it says "Checking Disc..." but nothing happens and the disc doesn't resume spinning
Aside from going back and checking my wiring again, does anyone have any suggestions or ideas about what could be wrong here, or anything I could do to fix it?

sorry forgot to mention, if I load up the original bios through qoob and then boot an original game it says "The Game Disc could no be read. Please read the Nintendo GameCube Instruction Booklet for more information."

If the Qoob Pro isn't booting properly, your installation could be bad. Check to make sure nothing is touching anything it shouldn't and make sure that wire that goes under the heatsink isn't touching it. Hopefully you didn't damage anything when you solder everything.

The problem with the lid could be related to the Qoob Pro's lid switch. Did you connect it properly? The Qoob Pro should disable the lid switch whenever it's enabled. The lid switch should operate normally whenever the original BIOS is used.

As for the not reading a disc problem, make sure that you put everything back together properly and that the laser module is seated on the motherboard correctly.
