Problems with Budokai Tenkaichi and Grandia Xtreme

I am using HDLoader 0.7c to load Dragonball Z Budokai Tenkaichi and Grandia Xtreme. With Budokai tenkaichi, the game freezes the majority of the time when I try to enter the Z Battle Gate mode. It also randomly freezes when I play in other modes. The same thing happens with Grandia Xtreme. I am able to play for a period of time, then the machine simply freezes up. I can still hear music in the background on Grandia, but the screen either goes black, or hangs and doesn't do anything. I've tried several versions of HDLoader, and several compatibility modes on both games, but nothing seems to fix my problem. Is there anything that I'm missing that could be of use? I have a v3 (old, I know) PS2, and am using the memory card exploit to run HDLoader off of my hard drive. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
