i have my dell 26" tv connected to my pc as my second monitor. everything works normal except when i play a video. all i see is a blank, purple screen where the picture is suppossed to be. i'm not sure what's going on. i have an NVIDIA GeForce4 Ti 4200 graphics card, if it matters. my brother said it might be the card and i may have to make some adjustments in the settings. but if anyone here has an idea, i'd appreciate it. thanks!

You'll have to put your monitor as a clone and your tv as a master. It's been a while since I had a nvidia card so I don't remember what exact terms were used. But you could find an application called tv-tool, with that it's really easy to manage your tv-out.

i downloaded the program but i still don't know how to do it. is it the "enable dual view" button? i didn't want to do it b/c there's a warning that shows up and i don't want to possibly damage anything.

Like I said, I don't have a nvidia card, but it can't possibly harm your hardware. Just try it.
