LITEON 5045 W hard-drive stops recording TV program

Up until tonight I've had no problems with this recorder. I've recorded 50+ movies/programs to hard-drive and later burned the shows to DVD. Tonight while trying to record a movie it suddenly stops at about the 57 minute mark and gives a "protected content" message and stops recording. I've made a point of defragging the HD nearly every other day. I thought it might just be some peculiarity or perhaps a split second power outtage, so I shut the unit off for a minute or so, powered back up and tried to record again and the same thing happened at about the 57-58 minute mark. Anyone ever had this happen to them??? A few more details...I am a directv user, and was recording a flick off the sundance channel...something I've done multiple times in the past. I updated the firmware a few weeks ago and have recorded many shows since without a single hitch until tonight. Could Directv have found a way to zap recorders with Hard-drives? (no phone line plugged in)
Any suggestions? Appreciate any advice. Thanks.
