The Crystal chip is pretty popular. It's a lot newer than the DMS 4 or Matrix Infinity, so that's probably why you haven't heard of it. It does indeed auto patch your backups for online play. It is currently the only modchip that offers that feature. It's a quality chip. If playing your PS2 online, it's worth your time to check it out.
84. Q. I know you said I should get a DMS 4 or Matrix Infinity, but I'm interested in the Crystal Chip, is the Crystal Chip any good?
A. Yes. It direct boots everything and supports all the features of the Matrix Infinity and DMS 4. The Crystal Chip has an added bonus: It auto patches DNA's for online play. So you can play your backups online automatically without having to dink around with Winimage, Windip, or Disc ID Insertor, or any form of DNA patching. The Crystal Chip is currently the only modchip on the market that supports this feature. If you play your PS2 games online a lot, and are interested in getting it modded, check out the Crystal Chip.

Touche. It's definitely not outdated. The Matrix Green dot is exactly the same as the blue dot. They have discontinued the blue dot in favor of the green dot. The chip's design and features are exactly the same, it's just that the Matrix Infinity Green dot is fully compatible with all v. PS2's, including v.14 and 15. The blue dot will continue to be flash upgradable via CD like all legit Matrix Chips. The crappy clones are stuck at v.1.54 and always will be. The Crystal Chip doesn't support Cheat Devices like ARMAX and Game Shark, I just found that out. If you're interested in getting it modded, go with a reputable online modder. They're several who're trustworthy. I'd hate to see you get ripped off by some shady back alley modder. Any modder worth his salt will have heard of the Crystal Chip. Just curious, lilazn7 do you have a legit Matrix Infinity? Firmware v. 1.4 is pretty old, where did you order your chip from? There are a ton of MI clones out there like the NH7, Modbo, and the Matrix Infinity S.E. Do not flash the chip with the official MI firmware if you have a clone chip. Doing so will fry your chip.
Well I dont plan on modding till spring break. But if anyone who lives in Toronto can tell any trustful modders I would appreciate it. Also if anyone can recommend a reliable online modder as well that would be great.
