Hi,

I started to backup my movies about a year ago, and my soultion is by far i think the most effective. If you just started to burn, here is the quickest and relativily the cheapest method to burn 100% DVD Movies up to this point in time. It's perfectly fail safe and works eveyrtime.

Software:
Slysoft's ANY DVD
Slysoft's CloneDVD2

ANYDVD- This left you decode and unlock all protection to date... CSS, AccOS, Macrovision.

Clone DVD2- This will let you copy the dics, this is a pretty flexable program. DL supported.

Steps:
1. Install both software.
2. Open ANY DVD. This is a software that runs silently in the background to unlock DVDs in real time so no hassle.
3. Insert The DVD.
4. Open CloneDVD2.
5. Go through the steps.
6. You will have it baked up in no time.

2 simple peice of software, no nero, this that, shrinker, decrytor..blah blah... X copy... Even though they are very good software i find useing these 2 peices the most simple and quicky when starting out.

They are cheap too

i think like $70 combined.

GOOD LUCK,
Jman

ok so you like the usual stuff that most members are bragging about.... and I'll admit that they are good programs cause I have them and use them, too. BUT..... for ease of use that I even advised my NEWBIE BROTHER to use is DVDFab Express. It's cheap and does a great job and even has free updates for the life of the program! I use it exclusively if the quality of the compression is 80% or above. If it is lower I go with DVDDecrypter and then DVDRebuilder Pro using CCE because it's the best quality program out there! And that, my newbie friend, you can't go wrong with!

IHoe,
I tried DVDFAB Express and my computer crashed with the Windows blue screen that mentioned problem with driver and to look at recently installed software/hardware. Since this happened after downloading DVDFAB Express and attempting backup of DVD I am sure this program caused. I wonder if should uninstall and redownload and try or would I get same result?
Thanks,
Bob

Does CloneDVD2 reduce the size of a full movie DVD down to less than 4.7Gb?

If so, I didn't realise that. I thought it needed to be shrunk, hence the need for a prog like DVD Shrink!

Also, has CloneDVD2 got tha ability to booktype discs?

Cheers

@Docarut........I'm sorry you had trouble with DVDFab Express....... this program has always worked for me and many others who backup DVDs. If you have trouble with a driver I suggest that you try to trouble shoot at the Microsoft Windows website. Good luck.

@anguss.........CloneDVD2 will compress a DVD movie so you can back it up to a DVD-5! that's what it's made for. CloneDVD2 won't booktype/bitset your drive to record DVD-5s to make them DVD-ROMs. Nero, DVDDecrypter, DVDInfo Pro are just some programs that can booktype your drive to make it record DVD+Rs as DVD-ROMs. Once it's set then you won't have to do it again! I used DVDInfo Pro to set my drive to booktype to DVD-ROMs. Remember, some drives can't be booktyped! good luck. you can download DVDInfo Pro (free version) at
WWW.DVDINfoPro.com.
