PC stalls when DVD+R and DVD-R are inserted

Have ilomu5, nero burning software, lite-on dvd recorder on PC.

If I record a dvdrw+r ( imitation ) my computer will download it and I can watch it on PC with realplayer. I can also copy it using image recorder. I can copy onto a dvd+r or dvd-r if I use the image recorder on Nero. I can make copies of copy etc.

However, if I burn a movie onto a dvd+r or dvd-r with the ilo recorder and then try to download it to my computer. The computer stalls out and I can only get it started by turning it off and restarting it manually.
I have formated and closed or finished the dvd+r before trying to download it to the pc. It will however, play on my dvd player ( ilo as well as a panasonic player I have) The dvd -r is a Sony disc....strange, would like to understand it.
