Lets say u have really cheap low quality media.(ie, CompUSA, Kyphermedia, Supermediastore brand, etc.) And you know that chances are that it will result in a coaster. If you want a better chance to backup a dvd successfully without freezing, I suggest u use dvd20ne AND set the final size to something less than 4 gbs...like 3.7. I tried this... the picture quality was only slightly slightly SLIGHTLY worse, I managed to milk cheap pieces of media Shxx for all their worth.

sorry, my point was that when i make a dvd backup LESS than 4 gb, even crappy media wont freeze.

You made a good point....But the outcome is gay as hell. You pay for what you get. Just experiment with the dvd players you have, and try different media. Not all cheap media will mess up at the end of the movie. It can honestly depend on the player with the particular type of media, or vice versa....Don't cut yourself short for no reason.

Stupid me, bought a 50-pak of Matrix DVD-R's w/o doing any research. 8 attempts / 8 f*ckin' coasters!!
