I just bought a premodded PS2. When you press the eject button, the tray door moves up, but then gets stuck half way. to push it up to the top so I can get my disc out makes a slight grinding noise, and is a bit tougher. Is this normal for a slimline?

I just had I think the same problem with my friends Slimline. We installed a fliptop yesterday and noticed that the molding of the fliptop compared to the original was off a bit with the notches. This caused the fliptop to only open 1/2 way.

His PS2 is V12 and I purchased a V12 fliptop (identical to mine) however during installing I noticed that the notches were off center along with the warrenty sticker being placed over 1 screw rather than in the back portion of the PS2. Also after installing since the tabs were not lining up 100% it caused the front-right part of the flip-top to stick up causing the swapping to be evey more difficult since you had to hold it down in order for the PS2 to think it was closed.

I believe Sony has evolved the PS2 V12 slimlines so that pre-exsisting flip-top molds do not work perfectly. It is either this option or even just as simple as a bad batch of flip-tops (warped causing tabs to not line up and corner to stick up a bit) being produced. Either way my friends PS2 finally got up and going but it was difficult and isn't 100% installed as to directions.

To all those thinking of installing flip-tops, read into them for awhile and see if Sony has done something to cause them to be almost worthless mods.

Just to say, I am not using an installed flip-top, I am using the normal tray door. I can open it all the way, it's just that I have to push it up.

i think that the reason that happens its because if the door keeps opening fully it keeps kind of snaping and one day it could break or get wrecked.Opening half way only it avoids breaking.all the ps2 i know are like that and i dont think thats a problem.I think it was made on purpose like that.
