AnyDVD doesn't back the DVD up. It will only help to remove protections on the DVD's.
Since I always seem to ask questions I will just put this into here to help everyone that helps me out....
AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4800+, 2.42 GHz, 2 GB RAM, Sony DVD-ROM DDU1615, ASUS DRW-24B1ST a - 1.04 (Firmware)
AnyDVD 7.1.2.0, Shrink 3.2.0.15, Nero 7.10.1.0

AnyDVD is the best pay program around, IMHO. But there are some free programs also available if you would like to experiment.
***Free***
DVD43...Acts like AnyDVD, running in the background stripping the protection.
DVDFab Decrypter...works like DVD Decrypter in file mode creating a VIDEO_TS folder.
DVD Shrink...No longer being updated, but can still rip alot of movies.
DVD Decrypter...Also not being updated, but can still rip alot of movies.

I'd have to agree with LOCOENG. DVD Decrypter has yet to fail me, although another great program to add to that list that has come in handy would be VOB Blanker, not a ripping or burning tool, but has become a valuable asset as part of my arsenal.

Start AnyDVD and wait for it to load in the task tray. Next put the DVD into the reader. Wait till AnyDVD's fox head flashes pale and then dark red. Usually takes up to 30 seconds.
Now open either dvddecrypter or DVD Shrink and backup as normal.
Use the guide in my signature if you have questions about the process.
Cheers.

Go into the settings of DVD Decrypter, under the I/O tab select ElbyCDIO->elaborate bytes, under the General tab untick the check for structure protection...these settings will allow AnyDVD to strip the protection for DVD Decrypter.

I did The Cave using AnyDVD and VobBlanker to rip and blank then ran the files through Nero Recode to compress and then burn. Movie came out great.
