DVD+Rs won't finalize

I've been using some Maxell 4.7GB DVD+Rs on my RCA DRC8005N recorder. The recording process goes fine, but lately about half of them won't finish the finalizing process. To me, if they won't finalize they're worthless. Is there anything I can do to help this process? Should I just record one title per DVD, or would that matter?
