Howdy,

I have an RCA CC9360 DVC camcorder, about 3-4 years old I guess. My problem is that the power switch seems to either be wearing out or is shorting out. I think maybe it's the latter. All of a sudden I can't get the battery to charge. I plug the charger in but the light doesn't start to blink. However, I notice that if I mess with it for 10-15 minutes, turning it on/off, trying this/that, that eventually it works. Trouble is, it also seems like the switch is also "on" while it's charging. If I pull it off the charger and just leave it be, the battery will be discharged the next time I try and use it. Sometimes when I turn the switch to record, nothing happens unless I flip it all the way over to manual. And sometimes when I flip it over to play, it won't.

Is there a source for parts for this camcorder or is it too old? Any idea if that's a part I could replace myself? Could the switch just be gunked up with dust/cat hair/whatever and that causing the problems, and how would I check? I'm not an electronics tech, wouldn't try to mess with any soldering, but have built 99% of the computers I've owned over the last 25 years so I'm handy enough in that respect.
