i've done some research in here about converting mpeg files to dvd. I dont see many people talking about MAINCONCEPT (which is what I downloaded, and cant figure out how to use it). I'm like everybody else in here who want to contvert some MPEG files to DVD so we can enjoy them in the truck while on the road. So if MAINCONCEPT isnt the way to go, what is? And is there a thread that explains step by step on how to use whatever recommended progam? Thanks a mil.
Basically just load your mpeg file into in and press convert.
After you have converted it, you will find that it is an a compatable movie format or your required mpeg2.Now you can burn it to disc, i prefer to use nero recode's remake a dvd option as its very simple
lol, very true andmerr, however sometimes a commercial product works so much better or easier than an equivalent freeware product that it may be worth the investment, and I normally HATE paying for software.
Funny you should ask that, I did this morning - for the first time -when WinAVI Video converter wouldn't convert an AVI for me for some reason (first time ever).
I'll admit that vso DivXtoDVD did manage to convert the AVI for me, so top marks for that, however it took a long time to do it, and I noticed that it produces a lot less chapters than WinAVI - not that that probably matters.
I'll stick with WinAVI because I feel comfortable with it plus it converts a lot more formats when necessary, but vso DivXtoDVD would definitely get second place as a recommendation from me, and it never hurts to have a 'Plan B' as a backup program just in case.
I'll have to get the DVD back from the guy I burnt it for but at a rough guess it took about 1/2 as long again to convert the AVI as I would normally expect it to take.
I used the free version of VSO which I read about here a few days ago.
PC it's OLD, we built it over 4 years ago but every time I get a few extra $$$$ we update something. I can't remember what's original and what's new anymore.

Using XP Home, HDD is 60G, and 60 was BIG when this baby was born, AMD Athlon XP2000+ 1.26Ghz and 1 Gb Ram. Only got 1 DVD burner fitted - an LG - but there's another burner sitting in a box waiting until I get motivated enough to fit it.
It's not a flash machine but hey it does all I want it to. It runs 24/7 and apart from reboots for new programs or Micro$oft updates it hasn't been switched off since July 2005 when it had a reformat.
