Hi. I bought a new PSP for xmas. I had read on the forums that I should by less than or 2.0. I bought from ebay a version 2.0(that's what was advertised and what the man told me) and was trying to convert it to 1.5 today.

I followed the steps but in the steps when you're supposed to locate the update in photos and it's supposed to update, I was given a fault message.

So anyway I removed all the files and formatted the memory card and checked the version through system settings and system information and it says system software version 1.00????

I'm confused is my PSP not version 2.0 as advertised then or is there some other way of checking the version??

Also if my PSP is version 1.0 then I shouldn't have to upgrade to 1.50 for homebrew and other apps right. Or are there any benefits in upgrading from 1.0 to 1.5

I would REALLY appreciate Help THANKS!

you can upgrade to 1.5, but don't go any further than that.

to determine what version your psp is from the box try this site

the homebrew will work on 1.0 or 1.5. Its just that I think most ISO loaders are designed for 1.5. I am only aware of Devhook for loading ISOs on 1.0

Would Wab version be what I'm looking for?

On PSP hacks I also saw version 1.0 dump files. What is the purpose of dump files, what are they?

It says the gamesharks only works with 1.50

I can't find anything to upgrade 1.0 to 1.5 or to 2.0? any other pointers.

Man I feel really helpless I have been searching around the internet like a manic and I still can't find the solution to this problem.\
