i am very new at working with movie files and such and was wondering if it is possible to convert all my MPEG and AVI files to DVD CDs so that they can be played in DVD consoles. I am not sure wether my MPEG files are MPEG2 or wut ever the other type of MPEG files there are out there. If some one can tell me a few things about converting these files that would be alot of help. Thankyou.

Help,

I am trying to convert my home video(avi/mpeg) and VHS tapes over to DVD. I have the Sony DRU500AX burner and have extracted all of the video in MPEG format onto my hard drive. Now when I try to burn, the MPEG file is too large. How can I split the MPEG? Can I use VirtualDub? Even if that works, how do I know WHERE to split the MPEG. I know a basic DVD-R holds 4.7GB, but how to I figure what that comes out to be in the MPEG? Does is measure by Frames per Second or just file size. For instance, the video I am trying to burn to DVD is 8.38 GB. It was from a VHS tape and I copied over to my computer and recorded it in DVD format, so the quality woudl be just as good as teh VHS tape. Somebody help me!! Also, does anyone know if Sony's DRU500AX is compatible with the 9.4 GB DVD-RAM DVD CD's?
Thanks

-MIKE
