You need a decrypter program running in the background.

Anydvd is the best and has a 21 day trial.
DVD43 is freeware but is not as efficent IMO.

Anydvd and dvd shrink work well together as it does
with dvd decrypter and dvd fab.

Good luck

i sometimes have up to 3 different sessions of DVD Shrink going as i've got 3 burners, plus i've happily had DVD Decrypter going alongside a couple DVD Shrink sessions.

ps your thread title states 'backing up copies' so you don't need to do any of this shrink stuff as the encryption's already been removed. all i do for backing up copies is a simple copy/paste (via windows explorer) of the video_ts folder from a copy, to my hard drive, then i burn back to a blank disc with burning program of choice

My main problem (which I didn't explain thoroughly) was that some movies would not decrypt and create a back-up onto my hard drive... however, it appears that Jizmak has solved the problem. I took the advice and downloaded AnyDVD and it worked perfectly. For all those who took the time to help me out, THANX!
