hey guys after reading a couple of threads i downloaded DIVXTODVD to copy my MPEG files to DVD. well everything worked out just fine except the fact that it took about 2 hrs to convert about 20 files. So after it was converted i tried to burn it and it gave me a message saying that operation was complete. The bad thing is, that I cant play the new DVD ON ANY dvd PLAYER OR pc. Anyone with info please help.

im using the burning software thats included with DivXtoDVD. When using that I always get a message saying thatCD DRIVE is dirty. Then I tried using Nero EXPRESS and when i tried to open the video_ts folder theres nothing there. I see 2 folders ( ORIGINAL & VIDEO_TS) What should I do?

A guess..

I used the prog myself and discovered that it copies an "original" file with the encoded one. There's a setting you can turn off to stop that from happening. It caused me problems because the size of both files together was about 19 Gbytes.

The extra (non-"_TS" file in the "_TS" folder may be causing problems, if I read your post right. I would delete the extra & see what happens.

If the "_TS" foler is empty (is it ?), it means the encoding was screwed up & I would try again.

You might try doing just one of your 20 files first, burning it and seeing if it plays. If it works, then you might start wondering why there is a problem with the "batch" job.

Maybe one (or more) of your 20 files are corrupt, and is messing up the whole project.

thanks for al the info, but i got lucky today! I started from scratch and encoded about 20 files. After the long wait, i was ready to copy the encoded files on to a BRAND NEW DVDR disc using the software with DivXtoDVD. Well that fail so I started reading through some of the thread and came across one that read try opening the files using DVD Shrink. I did just that wen tthrough the whole process and BOOM... project was completed. The only thing now is that I cant do it again! Could it be the software, my PC, DVDR's... I dont. I was real satisfied with DivXtoDVD should I try a different software?

I'm on limited time (girlfriend standing next to me & tapping her toe...) but I use VSO DivXtoDVD and it seems "OK", but I wouldn't mind finding a better one. What's your objection to it ?

(So I can obsess over it too..) ;)

I'm probably close to you on the learning curve, and I'll tell you TMPGEnc is reputed to be better in quality, but the fastest I've been able to get it to convert a XviD to DVD is 10 1/2 hours.

!!!

If you find a better one, lemme know !

Thanks,

BH

Just wanted to share some good news with everyone. After doing a lot of research on my problem I found out that 1 of the 20 files I encoded was corrupted so that was the reason I couldn't back up my MPEG files on to a DVDR using DVD Decrypter. Every information in this thread and others were so helpfull. Thanks to all that contributed their inputs.
