i like to start off saying im somewhat new to the psp and i couldn't find anything in search regarding my question. so here it is...... is there such thing as a fake or pirated umd disk??

no, never heard of such a thing. The writer only exsit with sony and you cant buy a umd drive writer. so no, no such thing

this has been posted before but i'll let you off (remember to change the search thing to use these words (not exact) as typing in exact rarly finds anything)

there isn't a umd writer, i doubt very much there ever will be

What exactly is so special about umd's?

Are they just smaller versions of a dvd/cd or are they using completely different technology?

They closely resemble Mini Discs.

They do resemble mini discs physically but the don't hold as much data
