I have done this with a few DVDs and they play fine off the computer. Use one of the common DVD ripping programs such as DVD Decryptor or Smart ripper (both on Afterdawn) to extract the movie on to the PC. Load up WinDVD, PowerDVD or what ever DVD player software you normally use and select open a movie/media and choose the location of where you extracted the DVD to. From what I remember, WinDVD plays the movie by selecting the IFO file, where as PowerDVD requires all the movie VOB files to be selected and the movie begins as soon as play button is pressed.

While this works for DVDs containing Dolby Digital or PCM tracks, I have not been able to play movies off the hard drive encoded with DTS Audio where as these movies play fine off the DVD.

You can use Alcohol 120% and read the dvd image to your hd, then use the stealth virtual drive and mount the image of the dvd. Another method you can try is using DVD Decrypter(iso mode)& Daemon Tools.
