Is it possible to make back up copies of my umd games for the psp and put them on a memory stick and play them or do you have to download them.

yes you can back up your umds - you use a prog called fastloader

that dumps an image of your umd to the memory stick

you need a version 1.5 psp though as it doesnt work with any other firmware

Hi RavenLife,

Could you please give me full instructions on how to do this. I have tried this a couple of times, with both Games and Movies, but can't seem to get very far. Please give me a step-by-step process. Thanks mate.

There really isn't much to it. Just run Fastloader. Insert the UMD you want to backup. Select 'Dump inserted UMD' from the menu. Then you'll get to a screen that tells you the full size of the UMD and to press the X button to start. Press X and it will dump the full contents of the inserted UMD to the memory stick in the ISO folder to a file called 'My Latest Dump'. That file is your UMD in iso format. Thats it! :)

How big does your memory stick need to be for your average umd game

They are all different newfiedog, there really wouldn't be a good average amount I could give you. Also depends if you back up the ISO yourself, or if you had someone else do it. Sometimes people rip alot of extra movies and stuff out of the ISO to make it smaller. GTA for instance, which cannot be played on 1.5, takes up about 1.2GB if I'm not mistaken, so you would have to have a 2GB memory stick or bigger to back it up. Burnout Legends takes around 450MB.

So really the answer is it just depends. The backup tool in Fast Loader will show you the full size of the UMD before you rip it, so you know if you have enough room. Hope that helps.
