- Why downgrade it to 1.5?

hoembrew - is unsigned (not made by sony) programs i.e console emulators like snes nes and neogeo - also legiimate backup loaders like dev hook

why - so you can use the above

You can also use some homebrew on 2.0 just not as much, also with 1.5 you have the advantage using ISO's. The only bad part about downgrading is that you can't play Socom and GTA but you can always just upgrade back to 2.0 for that.
