after my xbox is fully modded how will i play the games. i guess i am trying to ask is will i be able to save the games to the hdd directly from the original disc or will i have to make a back-up and then save it to the hdd or will i play them from the back-up disk

You can copy the games directly to your hdd w/ a program like dvd2xbox.

you should be able to play games on disk and from the HDD.if you go to setting you should be able to change setting so it automatically boots games when you insert the game.
