hello all,

i am new to creating divx/xvid movies and i would like to know how i can use an mp3 soundtrack instead of wav. i have been aboe to convert a wav from 1.73gigs down to 111megs using mp3 pro at the highest bitrate. for the size and sound quality it is odvious as to why i would like to use this format. virtual dub will only allow wav audio (at least from what i know of it). any help will be greatly appreciated. thank you in advance for your time and assistance.

VirtualdubMod will support a wider range of audios like MP3, AC3, and such. Something to keep in mind with xvid is that I have read it doesn't take vbr mp3 very well so you're best off keeping it cbr or chance losing your synch.

you know what i meant. hey it was late and i was tired when i wrote that. i tried the vdubmod and i kept getting error messages saying that i was missing some dll file. when i downloaded vdubmod i also downloaded the needed dll's and uzipped them into the mod folder. was i supposed to unzip the mod version into the folder where i have the original virtual dub? thanks again for the help.

You should keep your vdub and vdubmod seperate. As for the extra dll's and such, they weren't there when I downloaded my version a number of months ago so I'm unsure what they require.

No problem. As for being a newbie, I still consider myself one. :)
