I'm sure they can't, but you never know. I recently was ripping an adult dvd and I noticed they had a disclaimer saying something to the effect of "our dvds are copyrighted, we know if you're downloading to your computer" or something like that.

I looked in the dvd directory and only see the usual audio and video folders.

They can't send info back via the web can they? Figure its just a scare tactic.

I wouldn't think so ... but you never know ... Use a firewall, that'll stop anything from going out that you don't approve of ...

Adult video, huh ... well, I guess that it is cheaper than dating

sure they can when you start the back up they install a flash program that also takes your picture using your screen and thain sends it to the RIAA and thain your totaly up shit creek with out a paddle, the only way that they can do this is if you are conected to the internet while your are burnning you movie so make sure that you don't have your putter hooked up to the net while you are burnning.

There are some theories on Blue Ray that someone will know exactly what you watch & when. They also suggest that they will actually know who you are!!

As for DVDs, the only way that someone will know what you are doing is if you do not have a firewall. It is not some part of copy protection, just normal windows communication with Microsoft and such (same goes when you do just about anything on your PC). I usually turn off my modem when I rip/burn and then restart my PC and turn it back on.
