xbox new motherboard frags

i tried to mod my old xbox (v.1) but mucked it up . it turns on and off three times with no picture an no sound . so i thought i would invest in another motherboard . it does exactly the same even with the hdd drive in or out . surely cant be the power supply cos it lights up. i know its not the cables as i have another xbox and used the cables from that. any ideas most welcome. (the new motherboard didn`t come with a hdd)

well first things first u can t use a new mother board wiht out the origianl HDD unless u unlock ur current one. wut i would suggest is puttign back ur original mobo and plugging in everything and unplugging verything one thing at a time turned it on and off each time u do until u figur eout wut went wrong. get back to us w/ results

have found out that the board is ready for a chip to be installed .so i put my other xbox chip on it but it still did the same . so have decided to return the board and get another xbox. much easier solution and wish i had done that in the first place. thanks for your help cheers.

dont do it yet man. Actually get rid of that mobo return but keep ur "broken" one cause i think we could still fix it, i had almost the exact smae problem and it sounds like a bad flash to a modchip. does it turn on and off three times and then stay on but uwt an error screen or anything?

hi, have sorted it out. the hard drive was locked. as soon as i unlocked it with my other xbox away it went. am happy now :) thanks for your help .
