I have a SONY DVD+RW/-RW writer(external) and I am using RecordNow software to copy a DVD (4.7GB) to DVD+R (4.7GB). I am using Memorex DVD+R media, which says that it can fit 2 hrs of data in SP mode, and 4 hrs of data in LP mode.

I am trying to copy a DVD of size 6.7GB to 4.7GB DVD+R in LP mode. It's fine even if I am losing the quality in LP mode. I didn't find any option in RecordNow (vertias)software where I can pick LP recording mode.

Will I be able to record in LP mode or should I copy it by splitting the DVD data into two ?

I couldn't find any article talking about 'recording in LP modes' in the forums here.

Can someone help me with this LP recording or point me to a link that has some info on this ?

thanks a lot in advance.

You're getting confused here.

SP & LP are terms use for folk burning their own DVD creations from scratch.

Now it gets a bit confusing when in one moment you talk about time (2hrs / 4hrs) and the next breath you talk of file size (6.7Gb to 4.7GB)

NEVER THE TWAIN SHALL MEET (as they say) This is one on those situations created by those nice marketing folk.

Bottom line is, you only have 4.7GB of disc space to burn to. The more "Movie time" you want to burn, the lower the bitrate you will need to use (bitrate is the correct term to use, rather than SP/LP)

And, sorry to say, you will not be able to "copy" 6.7GB to 4.7GB. You will need to re encode your 6.7 GB to 4.7GB first.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but it's a complicated world out there.

One last point, try checking out this site, it just might give you a few answers :-
