When evolution selects its agents, it does so at a cost, makes demands in exchange for singularity, and you may be asked to do something against your very nature. This force, evolution, is not sentimental. Like the Earth itself, it knows only the hard facts of life's struggle with death. All you can do is hope and trust that when you have served its needs faithfully, there may still remain some glimmer of the life you once knew.

Yes. Data Life Plus are the best (of the Verbatims - there are a lot of personal preferences of brand names which may or may not be better than Verbatim). Second is the Data Life, Third the straight Verbatims. All of these types are really good, and the regular Verbatims are probably fine for most folks recording needs (and less expensive). The Verbatims are manufactured in various countries, and that is the key issue on Verbatim quality, more than the sub-brand variation. I believe the two primary manufacturing countries for Verbatims are Singapore and Taiwan (someone please correct me if I'm wrong). One of them (I believe Singapore) is pretty crappy from what I've been reading on other postings. The Taiwan ones are good. Get DVD Identifyer (someone post the link please), it will tell you the origin and manufacturer of your Verbatims. If it shows MCC they are good, someone can tell you what the bad ones will say, as I've been lucky to just have the good ones.

All 3 look the same to me, MCC-003. Excellent media, and it is my favorite for all 3 of my benqs and tv recorder.
There's a lot of confusion with verbatim. You used to have:
Verbatim data life
Verbatim media life-extict
Verbatim Data Life plus
Verbatim Digital movie quality-those are still around-4x speed!
There's a lot of confusion between data life and data life plus. Verbatim is getting rid of the Data life plus labeling,so it'll only say Data Life on the newer batches. Same media, just going with 1 name for it from now on.
So if you see a website that says data life plus +8x,then probably older stuff. It was quite a bit of quality differences in the 4x speed, but the 8x verbs are sweet!
India also makes some of the verbatims, still very good quality!

i'll certainly vouch for Indian & Singapore made Datalifeplus single layer discs, but as and when the Datalifeplus label gets dropped methinks i'll be ok as i only use Verbatim Taiyo Yuden now, of which i always buy by the shedload. I don't know if it's gonna become a lottery (as to what quality you get) when all Verbs are just known under one name or whatever, but i'm not gonna chance it, plus the Verb TY are awesome discs anyway

I've already noticed the dropping of the plus on those verbs in the newer 16x speed. Still got the MCC-004 MID code. Sweet, sweet mitsubishi advanced metal azo dye! Just like the verbatim data life plus. The kind of media you wanna take home to mamma!
