I am ripping movies using DVD Fab and then use Shrink and Nero to burn. I have not had this problem until today adn it does not matter what movie I am trying to burn. The problem is: after using DVD Fab to rip (no errors are occuring) I open the ripped files with Shrink but I get a message that says, "DVD Shrink Encountered An Error and Can Not Continue." Invalid data.....(and it lists the location in which the ripped file are located). I have not had this problem before. Like I said it does not matter what movie I rip and then try to open for burning. What is wrong or what am I doing wrong? Please help.

Can you give us some examples of movies?

Normally that errors means that it's got ARccOS or ripguard protection, in that case after you got the files on your hdd with DVDFab run them thru VOB Blanker and then use shrink.

But if can give us some titles it would help. Also what region...

EDIT: An up to date verison of AnyDVD should also work...

"ARccOS? is the first and only available digital and dynamic DVD-Video copy control which effectively prevents unauthorized DVD copying on PC. ?Our customers are pleased to finally have found a copy control solution for DVD-Video that protects their content successfully."

Rather than first using DVDFD try skipping that and just opening the disc with Shrink.
If it is still doing the same thing, try removing and reinstalling Shrink.
I could be wrong but I don't think either of these two movies have any kind of structure protection...Armegeddon has been out quite a while??

It seems to me that if you have ARccOS on your movie, Shrink will accept the file initially but fail with an invalid navigation error of some sort.

I have downloaded VOB Blanker and ran the movie through it once ripped using DVD Fab. Then I opened it with Shrink but It continues to faila bout 1/4 of the way through the movie. I also tried to open and rip using Shrink only and seems to fail at about the same point. I even uninstalled and reinstalled Shrink. But this did not help either. I had no problems until trying to rip Armegeddon. Now, no matter what movie I try, I can not get Shrink to work in reading the file. Any other suggestions? I am getting frustrated because everything worked fine on the first 2 movies I ripped and burned. The movies I did have success with were Starship Trooper and Star Wars: A New Hope.

Have you tried cleaning the disk, or replace it with another one. I just ran my DVD of the Mummy Returns through Shrink, on its own, and it has no problem with this movie. Other than the movie has Interactual Player, which I hope you did not install on your computer because it can cause all kinds of problems with backups.

Dittos to what arniebear said. I did this on recently with DVDShrink and did not have any issues...don't install the dreaded interactual players.

Interactual Player is on my computer. But I have meant to uninstall it. I will try cleaning the disc. Could the Interactual Player cause the other software, such as Shrink, DVD Fab or Nero to not work correctly?

Yes, and make sure you get it all cleaned out. Use a regcleaner such as CCleaner to make sure you get it.

Arniebear, thanks for your advise. After uninstalling Interactual Player, Shrink worked without any errors once I got the player uninstalled. Thanks

Glad it worked out for you, that Interactual Player really can cause some problems especially with Shrink. Happy burning to you :)
