I ordered up swap magic and the fliptop lid. Installed the lid but the problem i have now is that I have to hold the ROM drive firmly together with my hand so that it will spin up.
When I originally opened the PS2 Slimline SCPH-70003, a small metal plate (see pic) fell out - and I cannot for the life of me work out where it sits!
Does anyone know where this should be and could this be the reason i'm having problems with the ROM?

oh that's the little plate that the vertical stand screws in. you should see a little hole on the very left edge of the pstwo, just slip the metal plate next to it. when i opened my pstwo the same plate fell off and i freaked out. the pstwo doesnt need the metal plate to function -- it only need it to use the vertical stand.

Thanks Evi1d33d.

Thats one mystery solved - and then I landed myself in another mess. I totally forgot about the fúcking reset button - the actual button itself fell off the L-shaped board!

I tried slapping it back on but naturally thats not going to work. I assume it could only have any possibility of working if it was soldered on. Even then, the cable could have been damaged.

So it looks like i have to order one of these up.
