Hello, I am new to the backing up process, so I have a few questions I hope you gentlemen (and ladies) can help me with.

1) I am a home theater buff, so I would prefer strongly not to lose any video and audio quality over the backing up process and would also like to keep all the menus and misc. contents if possible. That said, does that mean I should always use double/dual layer discs when backing up so I don't have to worry about the loss of quality to compression? (assuming of course the original disc is over 4.7 GB)

2) If using double/dual layer discs is the best possible way of preserving the original's quality and contents, does anyone know which is the best brand out there for that type of media?

3) What is the difference between "hub-printable" discs as opposed to regular printable discs?

4) I would prefer not to play around with 20 different softwares trying to make a backup. Thus, can anyone recommend the best decryption and burning software combination which will work on close to 100% of all newer movies?

5) As for online purchase of media, I've heard of supermediastore.com, newegg.com, and meritline.com. Are there any others out there that come highly recommended ?

6) None of my DVD players are older than 2003. Do I still need to booktype my backups then? If so, can someone walk me through the booktyping process or direct me to a page where a walkthrough is posted? I have a Lite-On SOHW-1693S06C running on a PC with Windows XP Pro. Computer is running on AMD processor overclocked to about 3.0 GHz.

Thank you all very much in advance.

By the way, my DVD players are: 1) Sony DVP-NS999ES, and 2) V Inc. Bravo D1.

Thanks again.

An alternative to DL discs would be to "split" the movie into two SL discs, keeping all the quality of the original.
