When copying a DVD to a PC, what software has the least amount of Compression?

My question is: which DVD backup software (DVD Shrink, DVDFAB Decrypter, or ...?) would has the Least amount of Compression when copying the DVD onto my hard drive initially? Or rather, how can I get an Exact copy of the DVD onto my computer, with no information lost? Should/could I save this as a DV-AVI file on the computer? I have a Dell XPS 400 with a 2nd hard drive, so storage space is not a problem.

I plan to copy a DVD onto my PC's hard drive -- besides the movie, I'd like to copy the Bonus Extras which contain "deleted scenes" from the film that wound up on the cutting room floor. What I want to do is take these deleted scenes and edit them back into the movie, to make a longer, "complete" version of the picture. Over time I want to do this with a number of films.

I'd like to do a really fine edit here - that's why I'd like to go with as little compression as possible in this first stage. Plus I hope to do some color restoration on this 'unused' footage (it was never color corrected by the studio) so it matches the main film. I plan to use either Premiere or Vegas for my editing software. When I eventually burn the finished result to DVD, of course there will be video compression. I was just hoping to avoid it, if possible, during this editing/color correction/matching phase.

I use DVDDecrypter....... it copies everything to the hard drive without compression or changing the files of the DVD! Although this program hasn't been updated for a long time now, it's still the champ and will do the job for most DVDs!

hi

if you have dual layer burner you wont need to compresss any thing! just use DVD Decrypter like ihoe says and use ISO READ then ISO WRITE (but click the .MDS file to burn not the ISO!)

it carries the layer break info for dual layers
