There should be a video mode option in the settings. Just change it to NTSC and it should be fine.

I was playing around with it and for some reason when I try to save and exit after making changes, it hangs on Saving Configuration (or something like that).

Any ideas what that would cause that?

Nope. You could always try reflashing the BIOS and see if makes a difference.

I have a us version of ngc, wanting to get a viper extreme chip.

so only with the viper extreme chip, I am able to burn a backup of a PAL version of a game, pop it in my us (ntsc) ngc and choose PAL under the viper extreme bios and play the backups?

when I switch over to the NTSC games, does this procedure have to be done again, this time choosing NTSC for the NTSC backup game to work in my us version of ngc?

thanks for the advice.

All mod chips and soft mods are region free. Playing PAL games on an NTSC console works fine with any method.

If you choose PAL for a PAL, you're just going to get a PAL signal that won't display properly on your TV set unless you have one of those TVs that support multiple signal standards.

The reason I told him to change it to NTSC is so that it'll display properly. Has nothing to do with getting the game to boot up.

Most of the time, you can have it set to NTSC and it'll play any game of any region. However, a few first party games such as Mario Tennis and Mario Kart DD won't work unless you set the video mode to auto. Or at least that's how it is with Qoob Pro.
