Hey out there!

Two of my kid's games won't load on his PSP anymore. We bought a cleaner yesterday and used it but to no avail. They still just grind away and won't work. Any help?

The games are NBA 06 and Untold Legends if it matters. They are probably the ones he plays most but all his other games and movies load fine.

Any help appreciated.

Tim

Did you buy the games or did you download them? What PSP version do you have? 1.5, 2.0 which?

Thanks to RavenLife's FAQ thread I now know that it's 1.5.

Thanks RL.

Have you tried trying to read other disks ? If that fails too, you may want to try taking it back to the store you bought it from.

Yeah, all his other games load and work fine. He said before this problem he would sometimes get booted off NBA 06.

In that case you could try taking your disc back to where you purchased it from (if you didnt purchase it a long time ago). Else, since you say you have a 1.5 psp, you may want to try loading those games from an ISO image if you can get your hands on one.

Bought them in May when he got the PSP. He's pretty careful with them and it seems strange that he put one in and it didn't work then put the other in and it didn't work.

it would help if yuo knew somebody else with a psp - then you could rule out if it is the games or the psp

does it just do teh grinding noise all the time - you know like it does when you have a dodgy disk in a cd player

Yeah. It grinds, stops, grinds, stops, until you take it out. I'll have him try it in his friend's--good idea!

Maybe something blocking the discs from spinning like dirt in the centere or something? Prehaps a bit of fluff if the discs were kept in a pocket?

That's what we go the cleaner for. Hasn't helped. Now he tells me both games were booting him off before this happened. None of his other games do that.

I tried cleaning the disc again and now it won't spin. Any Ideas?

I don't mean the actual disc surface, I mean in the centre of it, maybe something stopping it spinning?
Will it spin round easily if you poke your finger through the gap in the casing and try to turn it by hand?

Here's the scoop! My son took the disc to school to try it on a friends PSP. The kid looked at it, pushed on the bottom and snapped the plastic on the front into place, the game works. Apparently my kid hasn't been as careful as I thought and was pressing the middle of the front when he snapped them into their cases, thus pushing the plastic and the disc out of joint. We fixed the other game and both load fine. And he has anew way to put them in the box.

Thanks for the brainstorming. Took an eleven year old to figure it out. Color me dummy.

Oh Timo721, you saved my life. I've been unable to get one of my games to work for well over a week. Now I know not to push them in to their cases that way. Bad design if you ask me because it seems so natural just to push it in place.

Glad to help.

It does seem poorly designed for that reason. I'm glad the fi was so simple tho.
