I bought the qoob sx a couple of weeks ago now, had a bit of a problem with an earthed wire on the install but everything went pretty smoothly.

Had no problem flashing the bios.

Original Game's work great.

But I haven't had one of my backed up games (bar Zelda Wind Waker which works for hours before it locks up) which will work for more than 5 seconds before the game freezes the disc keeps spinnning but nothing happens.

I've tried using Ritek fullsize and mini media

I've adjusted pot which originally started at 600 (mine is the black gamecube apparently the pot level is always quite high on these) from 90 way up too 220 in increments of 5.

I've tried 1.3a and 1.3c bios

I've looked for a version of GCOS (as I've heard it's very good at booting back ups) that can be flashed by dvd to the sx but apparently it hasn't been made :(

Does anyone have any other ideas for me, it seems a shame to give up after all this time, effort and money invested?

Thanks for any help

And I have tried 10 backups in total and there is no doubt they are good.

run gcos from dvd (the dol file for qoob; internal something..??)

I gave up for a few months, untill gcos 1.5 came up.
I also invested a lot since last april, but since gcos 1.5 I 'm cool!!!

i had the same problems with my qoob sx but i finnaly found a combination that works. try this one: Maxell DVD-R full-size disks with 1.3a and gradually adjust the POT untill it reads all right. i turned to pot up untill it wouldn't spin the backup disk then i gradually turned it untill it spun, then turn a little more untill it reads. thats what worked for me. i have a DOL-001 revision B NTSC with the 04 drive.
