I just tried to back up Valiant, but failed. When I opened with DVD Shrink, it read the disk fine, but when I clicked Backup, it would make it to 2% and freeze. Has anyone found a way around this problem or know of a way past it?

Rip the files to your hdd with DVDFab
Open the files with VOB Blanker and process (Don't change any settings)
Open files up in DVD Shrink and continue as per normal.
This is the free approach to doing the movie as DVDFab and VOB Blanker are freeware. You can get them from my sig if you need them.

Any ideas? I have DVD Xpress and AnyDVD. I tried to backup Valiant and the read gets to about 99% with 16 - 21 seconds remaining, then locks up! I don't even get to the burn. I have everything shut down in the background, restarted and the same thing happens. I don't really want to buy anymore software. Has anyone had this happen with DVD Xpress and AnyDVD? Thanks for your help!

You really don't need to waste more money on any software.
You have AnyDVD, and from what I understand, it is one of the best. Everything else you need is freeware. You can get DVDDecrtpter, DVD Shrink and DVDFab Decrypter from the link provided by Deline above

For Valiant, I ripped the movie in ISO mode with DVD Decrypter and then used DVD Shrink to process it. I personally don't care for extras, menus and stuff, so I re-authored "Movie only". In less than an hour I had a perfect burn.
