xboxhdm1.9 will not work...please help

hi there, i am having troubles, just hopeing some of you can help me...i am trying to put in a big harddrive(samsung 41GB) i know it sucks and small but i just wanna try it first before i put my 300gb in. i made the boot disc and it boots up, but when i click "1" first it works, then i type "xboxhd" it works then it asks if i want to continue and it just gots to a dir called "root@Xbox-HDM:/2" can some help me out thanks alot!!!!!!

Ok a couple thing you can try first follow this tut I use it every time to make sure I don't forget some small detail. http://www.techfreaks.org/articles/modxbox2.shtml if this tut does not help try downloading it from xbins. You might have a messed up copy. If neither one helps post what actions you did and what the results were. Be as specific as you can be. The more info you give the more you can be helped.

thank you very much for the quick reply i will be trying this as soon as i can since i am at work. and i actually did download xboxhdm1.9 from xbins thats why i am confused everything from there is topnotch.

hey i just wanted to say thanks again for giving me that site, i was doin the most stupidest thing ever, i was hitting "y" instead of typing "yes", it is building right now i will keep you posted on the locking...thanks

k, i completed everything here is what is says after i try locking first it asks to
continue locking and i said "yes"
then it quickly says aborting then "detecting drive status then
it displays
hdd serial number:
hdd firmware:
hdd model:
security supported : yes
security enabled : no
security locked : no
security frozen : no
security count expired : no
is this correct?? it also gave me no errors at all.
NOTE: when locking drive in xboxhdm1.9 always make sure to type "y" instead of "yes".

Ok this is where it gets tricky some times. First thing I do is put the harddrive in the xbox aand see if it works ( I can never rember what the final screen is supossed to look like) If you get a error the drive is probably not locked. Some tuts I have read say when locking the hard drive with xboxhdm the hard drive has to be setup as primary master and the cdrom has to be primary slave ( or visversa). I will try to look up some sites with that info and post them here. If you need more help post more questions here. Good Luck

hey philmccan, thanks for the help thus far. i have everything working on my box just a couple more questions then i will be out of your hair. On my new drive whenever i use XBMC and i try to play anything it keeps freezing, secondly my buddy "accidentally" deleted one of his dashboard files (error 16). he doesn't have his password and i don't have his eeprom, is there anyway to get his hdd going again or is his box totally trashed!!!??? i have tried lookin for tuts but the only ones i can find is for modded boxes and everyone also has there password. plus i cannot boot for dvd.cd-rw whatsoever so whatever you can do to help is greatly appreciated, thanks

Hey 98sohc, good to hear your xbox is working. I don't use XBMC a whole lot, the best I could tell you is try onther site to download it from and reinstall it. If you need help finding it let me know.(do you use any torrent programs ? )
Does your friends box load games ? If so try to reinstall the soft mod, the game saves might still be on the xbox. If that does not work let me know I will see what else you can do. As a last resort he can buy a mod chip to getting it going. I do not have any experience with chips. Let me know how it goes.

And the choir of angels stops singing so that they can laugh at me. I made the same mistake... For about three hours. I re-configured, and reburned four times, and wondered why it wouldn't work..... Geebus.
