A log of the failed burn would be helpful if you could copy/paste it...
Just remember to edit out your serial number..

i'm retiring for the night shortly, but i have this to offer...
if you use Nero 6 - let's have LAST section of your Nero log which lives in c:\program files\ahead\nero\nerohistory.log but DO NOT post your serial number which usually begins with '1A21' or similar.
You can differentiate sections via this section divider "====== *** Nero-Burning Rom, History File *** ======"
if you use Nero 7 - let's have LAST section of your Nero log which lives in C:\Program Files\Nero\Nero 7\Core\NeroHistory but DO NOT post your serial number which usually begins with '5C80' or similar.
You can differentiate sections via this section divider "====== *** Nero-Burning Rom, History File *** ======"

Hi Dannyo
It's good to walk properly before you go jumping. If you are new to DVD production, stick to the basics. Until you are well versed in DVD5 burning, then you go for DL because DL disks are so expensive.
DVD9 production requires much more system resources & disk space.
I burned my first DL after burning more than 500pcs of normal DVDR.

Hi semid13,
I have been burning DVD5 for quite a while and have been happy with both DVD Shrink and Nero and have rarely had any problems, like you say a bad DVD9 burn can get expensive, so i am keen on fixing this problem before waisting more money, hopefully someone can solve my problem with the log file.

It seems your drive doesn't like the media used. Your firmware is a bit outdated. Getting an update may add better support for the Ricoh dual layer media. It seems that liteons do fairly well with Verbatim dual layer in general. For your firmware look here>>>>
http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=2141
Another thing that may help is to upgrade your RAM. You only have 383MB total and 146 available that isn't being used up by other apps. But if you don't have the change to upgrade your RAM, you should shut down every non essential service and app on your PC. So kill the antivirus, firewall, internet and all that other junk.

Man, my comp would barely run with that amount of RAM... glad you got it sorted, but you may still want to consider upgrading the RAM a bit when you can... it'll run a lot smoother and may increase encoding time etc with shrink too... I don't know for sure as I haven't tried using shrink with so little ram.
