Newbie here. I don't know if this has been posted before, but I couldn't find any answers after doing a search. Heres my situation: I have an Original UMD movie that requires 2.00 firmware to play the movie. My PSP is running on 1.50 and I don't want to upgrade to 2.00, Is there a way to run this original UMD movie on 1.50 firmware?? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

I haven't tried it yet for movies, but fastloader 0.7 should work.

Psotaku, I have a problem with some UMD movies not playing on my PSP Firmware v1.5. I get the message "The Disk cannot be played". I know that some games are tied to Firmware, is this true for Movies as well? What movie are you referring to? I cant play Appleseed or Sky Blue on my PSP.

I never knew that you had to have a higher firmware to play certain movies.

ps3 with 20gb hard drive

xbox 360 premium edtion with vga/hd hook up to my dell 20.1 inch widescreen lcd.

White and black 1.5 psp's

I'll take this down WHEN micro$oft decides to stop being lazy and make the capcom fighting games backwards compatible with the 360 dammit!!!

It is an ALL region UMD movie imported from Japan, so there shouldn't be any region code issues. Here's a link to the UMD movie: http://www.ncsxshop.com/cgi-bin/shop/GBTU-002.html

My PSP is running on true 1.50 firmware, it has never been upgraded or downgraded. When I insert the UMD movie and power up my PSP the following message appears after attempting to boot: "To play, you must update the system software" and gives me an option to update to version 2.00 in the PSP system menu screen. I tried Fastloader V0.7 and UMDEmulator v.8 but both are unsuccessful on running the UMD movie. The UMD was recently released Dec. 2005, maybe Sony recently added code to newer UMD movies to detect system firmware? I don't want to upgrade, and want to preserve my PSP's original 1.50 firmware. Upgrading and downgrading the firmware has some risks from what I heard, such as bricking the PSP which is something I want to avoid.

Hi Postaku, I have a similar problem with some UMDs that I own. My PSP (Japanese) has Firmware v1.5, i can play some of the movies like Matrix Reloaded and Pirates of the Caribbean , but when I try other UMDs like Appleseed, Sky Blue and Fifth Element(All UMDs are Region 2) I get the message "This disk cannot be played". All the UMDs were bought in the UK. Most of my friends dont have v2.0 cos of ISOs so I cant test the UMDs so see if they would work on a PSP with Firmware 2.0. It is really bugging me :-)
