I usually reauthor using good single layer media. It's the cheapest way to backup discs. I hardly ever do a full disc backup anymore unless I'm backing up an episodic disc.

My DVD Arsenal: BenQ DW1650 Drive, Plextor DVDRW PX-740A Drive, Nero 6.6.0.13, AnyDVD 6.1.8.4, CloneDVD2 2.9.1.2, DVD Shrink 3.2, DVD Decrypter 3.5.4.0, DVDFab HD Decrypter 3.2.1.0, VobBlanker 2.1.3.0, RipIt4Me 1.7.1.0, FixVTS 1.6.0.3

I'm with DakotaFan, reauthor main movie only, who gives a sh#t what the directors comments say?

mmmmm...thinking i may have been harsh regarding the wisdom that directors comments bring to a film...naw!

I only re author if the DVD Shrink compression goes below 70%
otherwise I'll keep everything on the original.
Some of the extras are nice to have.

Though if it's a movie I really like, I'll re author and get the highest quality I can.

I don't use DL disks, cheaper to use the ordinary ones, and unless something like Lord of the Rings comes out again, I will probably keep using the ordinary disks, until everything chages to HD...

-Kids movies get reauthored so they don't have to push any buttons to start it. (Daaaaaaaaaaaaaad, it's not starting...)
-if the whole disc will fit at 100%, then I'll do a full backup.
-If there's a good set of goofs or extra content I would ACTUALLY WATCH, I'll reauthor and stick it at the end.
-otherwise, reauthoring to get best compression possible on main movie.

I reauthor 98% of the time...if you want to watch the special features you can always go grab the original disc, which you own of coarse.

Nothing bothers me more than watching a movie with pixilation. Re-author the main movie is the only way to go.

Reauthor and main movie only is the way to go. Most problems people encounter in copying disks are due to protections in the extras or unreferenced material parts of the DVD.

Main movie usually for DVD-5. If I want the extras I'll pull the original out. Doing more D/L now that the prices for the Verbs have come down as the kids are wanting the extras- I have no idea why as I agree w/ 9mmruger1 .

Same here, for 99% of the time use re-author using just DVD Shrink and DVD43, sometimes use DVD Decrypter to rip first for episodal discs and fit more episodes per disc... mainly use DVD5 for backups, only used 1 DVD-9 so far and that was for fantastic 4 as a tryout, also have it on DVD-5 too.

I might use more DVD9 discs when they become cheaper and faster in this country (uk)... at the moment it's around £2-£3+ per disc depending on what brand/speed etc Vs around 20p-35p per disc for DVD-5 discs from good makers like Taiyo yuden, verbatim or ritek... it has to be a pretty special movie to spend 10 times the amount on backing it up.
