Regular Verbatim (made in Taiwan, not advanced AZO)
Maxell and Fuji (made in Taiwan)
Sony (made in Japan)
I would really like to buy top notch media but Supermedia Store, Rima and Meritline do not ship to Puerto Rico via USPS. The only option available is UPS second day air and I'd have to sell vital organs in the black market to pay for it.
If I always hear voices surrounding me, does it mean Im crazy or that I hear in Dolby 5.1?

so basically, the ones you listed are what IS available locally for you?
what are the rated speeds for the discs you listed? if it is 8x rated, in either format, i would get the Sony (made in japan) as my 1st choice, 2nd would be the "regular" Verbatim (made in taiwan), and lastly the Maxell MIT followed by the Fuji MIT~ :)
IF these are the 8x rated discs, the Sony MIJ in the DVD+R format ARE TAIYO YUDEN discs~ :)
need more specifics as to WHAT format/rated speed you actually want...

Yes all of them except for Verbatim are 8x media and come in both flavors (-R,+R). The Sony ones are currently on sale a 25 piece spindle for $13.

I went by the store today and figured out what happened. They have mixed spindles of Sony media. The Ones I bought last night are made in Taiwan. Today I looked closely at the label and got me some of the made in Japan type. They coded as follow...

If I always hear voices surrounding me, does it mean Im crazy or that I hear in Dolby 5.1?

i know my Taiyo Yudens like the back of my hand...good luck with your NEW TYs~ :)
have a good one...ALWAYS make sure to look for country of origin...MIJ (made in japan) are almost ALWAYS better, with the exception of Verbatim which are MADE IN TAIWAN...

Hey Kivory!! Yes you are a Taiyo expert. What about the ones I picked by mistake (Sony D11). How do you grade them?

i rank them pretty high actually, i've only used a 50 pack of the Sony coded ones myself, but very few issues with them...
whenever the situation presents itself, i ONLY buy and use the Taiyo Yuden ones...however, you should be fine with the SonyD11s...my experience with Sony coded media is not that much...so, my opinion of them is only based on the 50 i have used...and that number will REMAIN @ 50 as i will PERSONALLY only pay for the Taiyo Yuden ones...
docTY~
good luck and happy burnin' !

I'd agree with kivory666 on those taiwanese sony D11.They are very good. But for the same price, and the japanese yuden000-T02 are available, grab them up.
Fuji/verbatim/and sony are my burners bread and butter. If I can get the Office Depot riteks in the 8x speed cheap,I'll get those also. Here's my rating on those brand in the plus format:
Japanese Fuji/Sony/and maxell.
Verbatim
Taiwanese sony and maxell-Ritek in the +8x maxell's from taiwan.
Taiwanese fuji? Maybe you'll get ritek/ricoh-very good, or you may get prodisc? I definitely avoid the taiwanese fuji.I can get the Office depot riteks or the Maxell riteks cheaper than fuji.
You got a K-Mart in Puerto Rico? They have the 25 pack sony on sale this week. $9
HP a1118x-b/athlon 64-3300+/BenQ 1650 BCDC/LG 8163B/Modded Wii/Epson-R300 and Ty Watershields!!!

Yes Saugmon. We also have Walmart, Sams, Office Max, CompUSA, and lots of USA stores. After all we are a USA territory. Prices and special promotions kinda suck though. The $9 spindle actually costed me near $13 . Costs are a bit higher over here in part due to our taxes and in part due to the overseas shipping cost companies must incurr (I think).
PS We also have McDonalds, BK, Wendy's and Subways even with those annoying Jared Ads...

I didn't mean anything about stereotyping. I just asked hermes if they had a Kmart. I've never been there, but if I did, it would have to include fishing.I don't even get up to canada anymore to go fishing, UGGH!
I try to keep up with what's on sale and where. Office depot/staples/bestbuy/office max/wal-greens/kmart/and wal-mart is where I have purchased dvd media for a good price, when they are on sale.Just look the the made in japan spindles first.

Well, I was just being sarcastic about the whole thing. It's just that there is a serious lack of information about us and we are kinda tired of some people's assumptions. PEACE y'all!!!
