when searching through forums i always seem to come across the infamous question, "what system should i get, PS3 er xbox 360...which is better?" Any intelligent individual will never tell another person which system is better or what system to get because there isn't any right answer. There is one thing I believe we can all say, that each system is different in its own respect; so by indepently breaking down one's wants if you will, you can in your own mind determine which systems is "better," but one should also understand and keep in mind "what is one man's trash is another's treasure." I"ll try not to be bias although i am a playstation3 supporter......So far i can honestly say i have had the luxury (if you will) to play the 360 firsthand on a sony 50+ inch flat screen tv (i kid you not). If your wondering what my reaction was, i damn nearly crapped myself. The graphics on call of duty 2 and madden were AMAZING, the wireless controllers worked great (no lag/delay in movement). There was one thing that really did surprise me..well i shouldn't say surprise because i read it all over the net, yes that was the fan noise. The 360 was LOUD yet once the game started and the audio from the tv began the fan noise was lost in the sound. However during timeframes when the game was loading or when we switched the games; the noise is very noticeable almost to the point where... if it were my system i would actually be a little weary about the overheating issues. However with this said i will confess that the entire time of gameplay (45mins) there were no instances of error codes or freezing so hopefully the noise and heating issues that people have reported will stay benign. Honestly the 360 has some kickass graphics and i was none the less very impressed. With all that being said..on to the darker side. i looked at the whole 360 launch and tried figuring some things out. i concluded that microsoft is scared and vulnerable. To me that is one of the few logical explainations to there preseaoned launch. i believe M$ realized the only way they can really compete with sony was to be the first to launch. some may argue but look at the statistics between ps2 and xbox (sales). i will of course give credit to m$ for their early launch but criticism is in line as well. i really think the 360 launch was too soon and m$ should have taken extra precautions and the bad publicity and so called lawsuit could have been avoided. im not sure what the percentage of core system packs to premium packs was but i'd like to think im not one of the few who find it ironic that regardless of which store you went to, there always seemed to be an abundance of core packs ... (okay argue that every1 wanted the premium and of course all that is left is core) but if m$ was so attuned to their customers and the premium is the better value, dont you think they would have offered more premiums and minimized their core pack production, or maybe its just another way they can squeeze a few extra benjamins outta you in accessories. Also what the hell were they doing trying to sell some 100K+ units in japan (premium package only..could be wrong but thats what i read!!)shortly after the launch in the states???(from what i know they werent too successful with the original xbox in japan) I mean if it were me wouldnt you want to make available as many systems as you can to your initial core support, that being the US and even europe. most people take care of their own first and the reality of it is that some 100k units coulda retailed here in the states. i do think m$ needed to get their product as much global outreach as they could, i just dont think the short timing between launch was necessarily right. did any other japaenese makers launch their console that quick in the states???from what i can recall the ans is no...it usually takes months before we see a new console after foreign launch. i was checking the latest from the ces show and came across m$ new up and coming addition to the 360. The HD-dvd add on.....i really hope some people are some what hesitant when considering this and do some research...the 360 is meant to be a video game console not a damn movie player..im sure its nice to be able to watch ur movies through a 360, but please.. you mean to tell me that gates company could not come up with something a little more relevent to actual gaming...i mean if im a 360 owner i'd like to know wtf is going to happen when upcoming games demand more disc space and now the format for our system is somewhat limited..what are the plans for this..are things going to be put on multiple discs???? Why is microsoft saying there going to launch the ps3 killer..?? halo3 when the ps3 launches...does that not in itself signify how scared they are of ps3 that they are going to withhold and dely the launch of one of the most anticipated games of all time...in hopes to hinder or disrupt sales of sony's console????does that not say it all that m$ doesnt seem to care too much about its consumers but rather got too wrapped up in the console war...because if its not like that then..wouldnt they want to constintly provide us with the best product (games) that they can and not withold them?? all in all i really can say im disappointed with microsoft and at one time really considered buying a 360 until recently when i started thinking about all the hoopla...as far as sony ps3 ...i truly thought the ces show would have a few bangs for ps3 but as everyone knows it was showcased as "conceptual design" with no controler utimately being pretty much a dud. im not sure any1 outside of sony has any clue what is going on with the ps3 development and i must say sony has definately at this point in time failed to provide any relative information, even as little as the occusational reassuarnce that the ps3 is on schedule or any relative information to the system. there website is of no help and the ps3 portion of the site seems to have not changed since this past MAY!!..how pathetic...i do hope sony is paying attention to m$ mistakes and really provides people with a product that can fully attend to video gamers (although the latest from several gameing websites is sony is supporting independent online service like ps2 did which is unfortunate to hear because sony does need a core service that is some what comparable to m$ LIVE). i still really think sony has some big surprise coming..but for all we know, it just maybe that the ps3 is not going to be released in spring as promised which would definately put smiles on m$ faces. so with all this info... who does all this affect.... well the ans is the little guy *you and me*
