DVD works fine when playing... but PC says VOB file is corrupt ?

I have a 20 minute home DVD (a 4D ulstrasound video of my baby).

The DVD plays fine in stand alone DVD players and when playing on a PC with Power DVD.

However, when I come to copy the VOB files to my harddrive I get an error saying "VTS_01_1.VOB" is corrupt or unreadable.

I've been trying to use software to convert the VOB files to AVI files (to edit in Pinnacle Studio).

I've used WinAVI and ImToo DVD Ripper - both programs crash when I try to open the DVD.

Ive even tried copying the DVD to an ISO image on the harddrive.

This worked, but when I then tried to write the ISO image back to a DVD, the suspect VOB file (VTS_01_1.VOB) was missing.

It also reported a transcoding error.

Below is the directory on the DVD disc...

So why does the DVD play even though the PC says the VTS_01_1.VOB file is corrupt ?

And is there a way I can repair it ?
