i have recently bought the newest slim ps2 and am intrested in modding it, i have already googled the topic many and many times but can not really make sence of all the information. The olny reason i am modding it is so i can back up and play my backed up games. Im thinking about buying one of those disks that will mod it so i dont have to open up my ps2 because i really dont want to put a mod chip in.
is there even such a thing as a mod chip for the slim ps2?

if some one could list a good site or point me in the right direction that would be great.

any advice or information that you could provide would also be much appricited

Thanks

ps. Yes, it is possible for a modchip to be fitted in the slimline, but I understand you're concern. I do think Swap Magic is the best option.

i am most intrested in playing my back-up games. but i have read that if i use the swapmagic method some backup's need to be "rebuilt" in order for them to work. On the other hand i have heard if i install a mod chip all of the backup games should work fine with out having to rebuild them. Is this correct?

Not sure about modchips, but occasionally you need to re-build games to get rid of dummy files. Especially if it is oversized and cannot fit on a singular layer DVD-R (Which requires to be re-built, or burnt on a Dual Layer disc for both Swap Magic and a modchip.

Re-building is easy! Have a look for yourself - http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/259416
