wsup everyone, this is my first post and i need some techinical help. I have been backing up my movies for a while now and all of the sudden I can't do it no more. I use dvd decrypter and dvd shrink plus nero to burn. I need some help as to why I cannot backup my movies anymore. Here is a log of my error:

The burner is not recog the blank media you are using. Could be cause by the DMA or you will need to change blank media to another brand or it might be a bad batch you got

ok thanks for the reply, wuick questions though.

To update Nero Will I have to purchase a newer version?

How do I go about doing that?

2. DMA- Go to Start>Right click My Computer>Proprieties>Hardware> Device Manager> You will see IDE/ATAPI Controllers> Secondary IDE Channel( verify it but is should be your burner)right click that to uninstall re-boot and make sure it is in DMA mode

3. Using Shrink in Backup>Burn Settings make sure the check mark next to Booktyped DVD-Rom is unchecked

Hey Gun617, here are the answers.....

1) No, you will not need to purchase anything to update your version of nero. The current version is 6.6.0.18, download and install packages 1 and 2, just double click on the files and follow the instructions. Get the updates here..

2) Here are your instructions for enabling DMA, click on the link and follow the guide..

http://www.onthegosoft.com/dma_setting_nt.htm

3) The custom setting for file size (4300) is changed/set in DVDshrink, to do this...Open shrink and goto edit-->preferences, while in the preference w1ndow/tab you'll see a target size setting set to DVD-5(4.7GB), using the drop down menu(down arrow) change it to custom and enter a value of 4300 and press ok (you'll only have to do this once).

4) Booktyping in nero needs to be set to automatic. Open/run Nero Burning Rom from the nero smart start screen, click cancel on the window that appears, then goto at the top: Recorder--->choose recorder, highlight your burner and then click the options button. You'll then see a booktype setting, select automatic from the dropdown menu and click on ok. Also uncheck the Booktyped DVD-Rom setting in shrink when backing up..done.
