I started to back up all my movies and data onto DVD+R's. A friend told me that he had heard that DVD+R's have a shelf life, meaning that it only worked for a couple of years and then it would just erase all the memory. I was wondering if anyone else had heard the same thing or it was just a rumor?
Thanks

Everything has a "Shelf Life" but it's NOT the+R or-R that counts, it's the quality of the media used.
Most recommend Verbabim (my choice) or Taiyo Yuden.
I wouldn't place too much faith in the RUMOUR

Even toilet paper has a 'shelf life' and like gwendolin stated above, it isn't '+' or '-' that affect the shelf life ... it IS the quality of the media ... ALSO, just like toilet paper, proper storage and handling also affects the lifespan of your discs ...

Are we talking about single, double, triple or quadruple rolls?
Color also makes a difference ...
Honestly though, the shelf life of toilet paper in my home increased dramatically when my daughter and my 3 granddaughters moved out ...

Scented or unscented and whether or not is has floral prints affects shelf life as well. There are many variables... LOL

Never heard of such thing (ie erase all the memory), especially DVD+R. As far as I know, DVD+R are far more advanced and superior than DVD-R.
