It states on http://www.booktypefaq.com/ -

"You can also set/change your DVD+RW Media's bitsetting/booktype, but the difference is that you can be bitset DVD+RW Media even AFTER you have burned it."

Is this possible? It doesn't tell HOW to do it (only how to start from .iso, reset, THEN burn). I burned a DVD+R DL disc from a 7.6 GB VIDEO_TS folder w/ a Lite-On burner which WILL play on my pc AND on a friends standalone BUT not on my Zenith XBC342 standalone. If there's a way to "alter" it to play on my Zenith I'd like to - can anyone direct me to a guide on this process?

bitsetting is NOT possible on a DVD+R DL AFTER the burn...they were saying that you could on a DVD+RW disc, but, this does NOT apply to a DVD+R DL that has already been burned...sorry, not gonna happen~

Thanks!

I didn't think it was...but then again I only learned bitsetting/booktype existed yesterday!

BTW...
Might a dvd player play a DVR-R DL when it won't a DVR+R DL ?

possibility is THERE, yes, but, there are no guarantees...

this is true with both the DL formats of media...DVD-R DL and DVD+R DL, some standalones have issues playing DL media, PERIOD...so, i would suggest NOT to go out and load up on DVD-R DL media assuming it WILL play on your standalone... :)

Thanks again, that was my guess. DVD9 I don't/haven't dealt much (or ever will again). Was able to buy 1 RITEK RiDATA DVD+R DL & burned this project on it.
Can't find place to buy a single DVD-R DL or I'd give that a shot.

I saw posted the possibility of changing the bitsetting/booktype thingey & "tricking" the player into reading it as a DVD-ROM(?).
Small quantities these discs are pricey so when I can afford some I may give the bitset change route a try & see....
